Course Intent

The 3 yrs. Bachelor of Vocational Studies in Fashion Design ( B.Voc) is a degree course affiliated to Rajasthan ILD Skills University. Course is structured to provide fashion technical expertise in Design Creation, illustrations, Pattern Making, Drafting, Garment constructionalong with relevant design sensibilities to be able to step into the profession of fashion designer. The course enables awareness of the socio-cultural and contextual influences on fashion, essential in understanding and sustenance of our Indian aesthetic signature. Business studies along with fashion design skills empower the learner to work as a Fashion Business Professional in the industry.

Learning Outcome

Course Content

The course has been aligned as per the NSQF level. In 1st year curriculum will be aligned as per NSQF level 4 & 5. In 2nd Year NSQF level 6 and in 3rd Year curriculum will be aligned as per NSQF level 7. The content imparts understanding of fashion design along with soft skills and computer skills. Term project at the end of each year showcases the skills learnt and knowledge gained. Fundamentals and nuances of design are explored through group discussions, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, study tours, visits to galleries & museums and industry visits.

Year 1

Learners in first year are introduced to career possibilities in fashion industry. They are trained in basic knowledge and skills of drawing, pattern making, cutting and sewing. Textile studies, Computer Application and Communication Skills form the basis of design learning.The program aims to equip the student with an in-depth understanding of the role of the designer in today’s fashion industry.

Year 2

Advanced Industrial Engineering & design skills like Fashion Illustration, Pattern Drafting, Draping, Garment Construction and CAD form an important part of the curriculum. The course facilitates a significant understanding of Textiles and Surface Development Techniques. Industry exposure is provided through knowledge of Merchandising and classroom projects based on brief from the fashion industry.

Year 3

Export management & industry orientation is incorporated in the learning through knowledge of Marketing, Professional Practices and Business Plan Development. The course facilitates a significant understanding of Fashion Trends and Forecasts. The acquired skills and knowledge are thus, applied to develop a range of garments and eventually build a Fashion Portfolio.
